If you’ve ever wondered what Aotearoa might have looked like hundreds of years ago, this is it.

 

Our ancient giants–rata, matai, and miro–have survived in the gullies, as kohekohe, tawa, and kanuka flourish across the middle of the island. Where the bush is regenerating, you’ll find fivefinger, mahoe, and kanuka–as well as the introduced flowering species that help our nectar-eating manu to thrive.

And amongst all this lush native growth live the treasures of Kapiti–our wildlife.
